Skin Rejuvenation
What is skin tightening?
Reducing skin laxity, commonly known as skin tightening, serves as an effective alternative to surgical lifting procedures. Although surgical lifting remains a standard treatment, it entails certain risks that many patients prefer to avoid. Patients opting for skin tightening procedures often aim to delay or prevent the need for surgical intervention in the future. While most commonly performed on the face, skin tightening can also be applied to other body areas, such as the décolleté, forearms, thighs, buttocks, or abdomen.
Treatment options
Among all available skin tightening methods, the use of various energy devices, such as lasers and RF systems, is the most effective. In addition to improving skin elasticity and firmness, lifting procedures help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture, and more.
How does this work?
Skin tightening procedures utilizing energy-based devices involve delivering controlled therapeutic energy to the epidermis and/or dermis. This process induces thermal coagulation within the tissues, stimulating the production of new collagen fibers. Ablative treatment options also remove a portion of the tissue to achieve more pronounced results, though they carry additional risks. Selecting appropriate treatment parameters based on individual patient characteristics—such as skin type and condition—is crucial for optimizing clinical outcomes and reducing the risk of adverse effects. Treating patients with darker skin types using laser or light-based devices remains complex due to a higher risk of burns or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Typically, a series of treatments is necessary to achieve significant and stable results.
