Founded in 1970 in Boston, USA, Candela Corporation is today the world’s largest manufacturer of laser cosmetology equipment, selling and servicing its products in over 100 countries. More than 50 years ago, Candela created the aesthetic laser market, providing physicians with the means to achieve results that once seemed impossible—from the first laser for treating vascular defects in children to the first hair removal laser with a built-in dynamic cryogenic skin cooling system.

Candela’s history is directly linked to the development of laser technology. The company was founded by a man at the forefront of science, Japanese-American physicist Horace Furumoto.

Horace Furumoto began his career in the early 1960s at AVCO in the laser weapons department, while also working with the Electronics Research Laboratory at Cambridge University. He is rightfully considered the creator of the world’s first high-power dye laser.

In 1970, Furumoto founded Candela Laser Corporation and developed a dye laser with broad clinical applications. In 1982, in collaboration with the Wellman Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital, Furumoto, along with Rox Anderson and John Parrish, developed the principles of selective photothermolysis, which were first published in 1983 in the journal Science. Using these principles, he created the world’s first lasers for removing birthmarks, kidney stones, and treating glaucoma.

The company sells lasers through its own service center, Candela Laser Hk ., which sells lasers, installs them, and provides warranty and post-warranty service at its own service center. We supply original spare parts and consumables. We also provide training for clinic staff on laser use and operating procedures. Our clients can learn from leading specialists and hone their skills in using Candela lasers for aesthetic medicine and dermatology at seminars held with world-class international experts. Candela Laser HK is also the exclusive distributor in Hong Kong for Cocoon Medical (Spain), FineMec (Korea), TenTech (Korea), OHAVE (Korea), and Contrad Swiss (Switzerland).
